The Mayo River offers class I, II, and III rapids. There are areas of the river that are recommended for experienced rafters and kayakers only. It is essential to know the area of the river with steep drop-offs and ledges. The Smith River allows you to spend a short amount of time on the water, rather than an all-day adventure. Trip times are between 1 – 2 hours, and class I, II, and IV rapids can be found during your expedition. The Smith River also has smallmouth bass and trout, making it a desirable river to fish.

If you prefer the grander things in life, the city of Wentworth offers you the small-town feel with big-city accessibility. Winston-Salem is less than an hour away and contains many restaurants, hotels, and businesses. Spend an evening in the city eating dinner and visiting one of the many unique businesses while strolling downtown. After shopping, catch a minor league baseball game at BB&T Stadium where the Winston-Salem Dash play baseball. They are currently a minor league team of the Chicago White Sox.
